August 11 Wine Dinner: North v. South

August 8th, 2016 Cookbook

Regional differences in Italian wines are sometimes a mystery for the average consumer, so let your palate explore the differences between northern and southern Italian wines at our comparison wine dinner on Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 p.m. The wines are expertly paired with a decadent four-course menu of Sea Salt originals. Each course will be served with a wine from the north and one from the south. Special guest Marcello Palazzi, Winebow Italian wine specialist, will guide guests through the diverse wines.

From the sommelier: “Until the late 1800s, Italy was made up of several autonomous countries. Each area in Italy boasts its own identity, whether in wine, food, fashion, tradition or landscape. However, one divide stretches through centuries — north vs. south. This distinction is worth knowing whether you’re a wine aficionado or new to wines.  Italy has a tremendous amount of gems to offer from both the Northern and the Southern regions. You’ll be the judge on which style your palate prefers.”
